Yesterday’s ribbon cutting for my latest murals in Katy’s Historic Downtown Square 🎀🥳👩🏼‍🎨🎨

These murals were a collaboration of ideas, stories, and emotions that reflect the heart of this community. My roots in Katy run deep; my family is part of the Fisher lineage who settled early in Katy as rice and dairy farmers. Needless to say, this project was much more than a job to me—it’s been profoundly personal. I was challenged in more ways than I can list and the reward was tenfold. Thank you @keepkatybeautiful for believing in my vision & navigating every step of the creative process with me 🫶

I couldn’t be more proud of how this mural turned out! It was created under quite the array of circumstances….I tore a ligament in my ankle while jogging last month & had to pause in the final week of my Katy mural.😔 Thankfully, this project was lined up next & with it being on panels I was able to produce it in my home studio while recovering.
My favorite part of this project was designing. I wanted the mural to entice curiosity to visit the store & add a unique piece to Downtown Brenham’s public mural collection. I enjoyed hand-picking each item to incorporate- many of which were found right inside the store. @artede.ea provided her design expertise & aided tremendously in the composition achieving a flow & balance. Carving out the edges of the “canvas” was the cherry on top for me!

It was a pleasure to work alongside the talented young warriors & Sky High family to create this mural. Our project may finished, but the impact it will have on these brave children and their families will last a lifetime.

painting, painting, painting & posting becomes an after thought (I’ll admit 🤪) but this project deserves some more space on my feed!
I had the pleasure of completing this piece in the Spring for Michael & Lisa Corker. I knew this would be a special project from our first interaction. Their enthusiasm for the project & trust in my creative process allowed me to create a piece beyond anything I’ve ever painted, detail & scale-wise.
The overall theme of this mural is La Grange’s past & present. My favorite impromptu additions are 1) the parade scene including Andrea & I + Lisa & Michael on horseback & 2) their dogs Hope & Nod chasing chickens & my girlies Shasta 👼 & Chroma.
The further along I get in my art journey, the more I realize that picking the projects is equally as important as picking the clients. 🤍❕
