For more than 12 years, I’ve poured my heart into public & community-engaged art & I’m beyond thrilled to now bring one of these projects to Bellville! What excites me most is giving others the chance to create in a public space… to feel the joy of making your mark & the excitement of trying a new skill! Mark your calendars for November 1st and come leave your own touch on this mural in downtown Bellville. All ages welcome and no prior experience necessary! More details to come.
I am so SO looking forward to creating together! ✨🎨🌼🌈

The Bugle Boy isn’t just a music venue- it’s a nonprofit that’s poured heart and soul into our Texas music culture. From hosting award-winning veterans programs, to nurturing Texas songwriters, to supporting nonprofits and arts outreach, their impact stretches far beyond La Grange. They have become a model for how a small stage can make a big difference- not just locally, but across the state.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate! 🎉🫶

David Adickes wasn’t just a sculptor of giant wo David Adickes wasn’t just a sculptor of giant works, he was a giant in Texas art. Getting to visit his home studio and hear his thoughts on creativity and his advice to me on pushing boundaries was such a gift, and it gave me a whole new perspective on what’s possible for myself as an artist.

You might recognize David’s work from his towering Sam Houston monument in Huntsville, the giant Stephen F. Austin bust in Bellville, or the “We ❤️ Houston” sculpture in Houston. There’s something about his sculptures that feels like they’re quietly daring you to go bigger, to take risks, and to believe, “Why not me?” That spirit runs deep in my own journey as a Texas artist. Whether I’m painting murals that tell the stories of small towns or exploring new directions in large-scale art, I’m fueled by the same passion to help shape how we see our communities and ourselves.

David’s works are more than art. They’re cultural landmarks that carry forward the stories and spirit of Texas. Seeing what he created makes you believe that art can do more than fill a wall or a skyline…it can transform how people connect with their hometowns and each other. That idea has stayed with me as I work to leave my own mark through public art across Texas.

David paved the way for so many of us, and I’m grateful for the cultural legacy he left on our state and on artists like me. In true artist fashion, he was creating right up until the end, and at 98 years old, that’s the kind of lifelong passion that inspires us all. 💫

Rest easy, David. Thanks for making Texas shine a little brighter.

“Grief has a greenness to it…a life of its own. It returns like spring leaves, tender yet relentless. It grows quietly in the shadows, ebbs and flows, and lingers on the edges of words we can’t quite say. It’s perennial, always waiting to unfurl, reminding us that love and loss are seasons intertwined.”

My heart is heavy for all the families and friends affected by the Hill Country flood. Grief has its seasons, but so does hope. Sending love as we all keep looking for those sparks of light in each day.

Thank you to every single person who has purchased a “Texas Wildflower” print off my site this week. As of today, we have raised $2,040 🌼 proceeds from these sales will be donated directly to @cftexashillcountry ‘s Kerr County Relief Fund. I’ll be shipping out this first batch of print orders this week but this fundraiser will continue through the month of July ( Tyler-Kay.com/shop )
I want to also thank my friends at @austincountyprinting for partnering with me on this cause and producing these quality prints at the lowest cost, so the majority of proceeds can go where they’re needed most.
I’ve been heartbroken watching the impact of the I’ve been heartbroken watching the impact of the flooding across Kerrville, Central Texas, and beyond. So many families, friends, & fellow Texans are facing unimaginable loss right now. 💔

My heart is with every family navigating this tragedy. I’m grateful for the first responders, volunteers, and community members showing up with strength and compassion day after day.

Texas isn’t just where I live. It’s home. It’s the canvas for my art, the people I love, and the communities that have shaped who I am. In times like these, when tragedy leaves me searching for words, I’m reminded that even small acts can speak louder than anything I say.

From the very beginning of my career, Katy Magazine has been an incredible supporter- not just of me, but of countless artists, businesses, & community leaders who call Katy home. Their dedication to highlighting local stories, talent, & the people who make this city special is truly unmatched.
I was given this incredible recognition twice & was even featured on the cover once. It’s pretty special to look back and see how much has grown & changed & I’ll always hold close the role Katy Magazine has played in my journey.
Thank you for believing in me, for believing in this community, and for always shining a light on the beauty and creativity that exists right here in Katy!

👩🏼‍🎨My name is Tyler Kay (that’s my first name & middle name)
❤️I’m a Texas artist raised between Cat Spring & Katy.
🎨 I only took one art class (in junior high). I made the decision to chase my dream to be an artist when I was 20, after my boyfriend passed away in a car accident.
💿 my first art-related job was designing T-shirts for @therealswishahouse
👩‍🎓 I received my Master’s in Arts Leadership (go Coogs!🐾) where I focused on community-engaged art. @uhschoolart
🖼️ Before I became an artist full-time I was a director at @bisongart in Downtown Houston
🗣️ I’m a yapper & joke I never meet a stranger
💅🏻 my favorite color is pink obvi
🖌️ I painted my first mural when I was 10
🐴 the white horse I sneak into paintings was my horse named Buttercup… I got her when I was 8, she was only a few days old and we bottle fed her in our backyard in Katy HAHA
👗 I love dopamine dressing. Gimme all the color, fur, feathers, and sequins!
🐶 I love Weimarainers. This is the only period of my life I haven’t had a pup & I’m looking forward to when I get to be a dog mom again!
🎶 I listen to everything from @torencehatch1g to @laineywilson to @maluma
🌼 I spent a lot of my childhood outdoors which instilled my appreciation for all nature
🌎 I’ve travelled all over the world
🌈 I LOVE color and express myself in my work by adding my personal “Glitch” painting style to pieces.
🤦🏼‍♀️ to me, the least enjoyable subject matter to paint is portraits
🔨 I see myself expanding my practice beyond painting in the near future
💫 My advice to an artist is find whatever gives your life meaning and never stop. Magic happens in decades, not days. Do what comes natural, with unnatural effort.

Thanks for following along & I hope my work inspires you to see the artist in yourself + the art of the life you’re living! 🫶🌸

Y’all drop a comment and tell me what you feel is the art that you create in your own life?
I delivered this painting today & got a moment to I delivered this painting today & got a moment to chat with the collector in-person for the first time.

I’ve always believed that just as everything unfolds the way it’s meant to, my art carries its own energy and has a way of attracting the right people to receive it. Today was one of those moments that reinforced my belief.

After sharing a bit of the journey in building his company Mr. Boyer gifted me a 1943 steel penny, a wartime coin made when copper was reserved for the front lines. It was a reminder of resilience, and he shared a piece of advice I’ll hold onto: the most important thing you can do in your business is stay true to your commitment, even if the path looks different than you imagined. Obstacles may come, but your dedication & perseverance is what carries you forward.

These moments are more than a transaction of art and Mr. Boyer gifted me much more than a steel penny today.
